Can a Hedge fund go public? and then creates value as regular companies do?

Regular companies creates value based on growth and ROIC and market expectations.  do we have a effect similar to P/E ratio in hedge funds. or the only benefit is the performance fee (20% of benefits).

The management companies of hedge funds can and do go public.It is a great way for them to provide liquidity events for their partners.
Here is a list of a few firms that have gone public:
Fortress Investment Group LLC (FIG), The Blackstone Group (BX), Och-Ziff Capital Management (OZM), and GLG Partners, Inc. (GLG).
